Very Rev. Joseph R. Jones, C.P.

Provincial

The Provincial of Saint Paul of the Cross Province is the Very Rev. Father Joseph R. Jones, C.P. of Philadelphia, PA.  Fr. Joe, as he is known, served in the previous Council for two terms as a Province Consultor.  He was ordained in 1965 and holds two Masters Degrees. One in Theology from St. Michael’s Seminary and one in Sacred Liturgy from Notre Dame University.  Since his ordination he has held many diverse positions in the Passionist Community, such as: Vocation Director; Rector and Retreat Director of Calvary Retreat Center in Shrewsbury, MA; Pastor in Jamaica, West Indies; Rector of Holy Family Monastery, in West Hartford, CT; Radio and Television ministry in West Springfield, MA and Pastor of St. Peter’s Parish in Greenville, NC.


Father Joseph has been involved with AIDS Ministry since 1984.  He is Co-Founder and past President of Pitt County AIDS Service Organization and the recipient of the Governor’s Award for AIDS ministry in North Carolina.  He assisted in the development of a curriculum on AIDS for Catholic Schools for NCEA in Washington, D.C.  In addition, he served as a member of the National Catholic AIDS Network Round Table Conference.  In recent years, Fr. Joseph represented the Province at the 44th General Chapter in Brazil, which he helped to plan.


At the 45th General Chapter, in Rome, (2007) Father was elected to serve on the Restructuring Committee for the entire Congregation as one of the 7 Regional Coordinators.

Very Rev. James Price, C.P.

First Provincial Consultor

Fr. James Price, C.P. is originally from Carbondale, Pennsylvania and is the son of Joseph and Barbara Price of Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Parish, in Carbondale, Pennsylvania and was educated in St. Rose Grade School and Sacred Heart High School.  In 1983 he entered the Passionist pre-novitiate college program.  He professed his first vows as a Passionist in 1989.  He studied at Catholic Theological Union in Chicago and earned a Masters of Divinity degree in 1993.  He was ordained to the priesthood in 1994. 


Since ordination he has been a Parochial Vicar at Immaculate Conception Monastery Church in Jamaica, NY and served as Province Vocation Director from 1997 to 2000.  Fr. Jim was appointed Retreat Director of Bishop Molloy Passionist Retreat House in Jamaica, NY in 2000 and served in that capacity until his election as First Consultor in May, 2006.
