While poor diet and lack of exercise can contribute to cardiac problems, there is often a basis in heredity, that which is already within the person. In the Gospel, Jesus also draws a parallel in our life between what we take into ourselves, and what is already within, namely the predisposition to the types of attitudes and behavior which bring moral harm to others and to our selves. We can all benefit from today's Gospel advice of our divine cardiologist.

“Heart disease” receives much attention medically because it is one of the leading factors in maintaining good health even for young adults. We all have someone if our family that may be difficult to relate to, who causes pain within the extended family and is hard to reach.
It is something that we give to God with all love and compassion in the hope that He will show us what we can do to help.

I don’t think there is one person who couldn’t relate to this commentary. Not that he'll reject our fear but I believe that bringing hope to our pleas will find us more deeply related to the person of Jesus instead of seeing him only as the source of deliverance from danger! Thanks for the reminder.

The embedded song beautifully captures so much of our contemporary burden which God alone can fully lift from our shoulders, souls and communities. Thank you for an extraordinary invitation to bring ourselves humbly to God our Savior today with gratitude for the rebirth we are offered.

Today’s written reflection goes to the heart of the biblical proclamation of God raising up the fallen. you ask us to ponder today on who has been a light, a spark in our faith journey. Indeed, that question is not only thought provoking, but it is humbling to realize that so much of who we are, who we have become has been because of others. You are one of those people who has given me and my faith life many sparks, many sources of light, and have even re-light my candle of faith when it has gone out. Thank you for being a light in my life and without a doubt the lives of so so many. Keep on shining!

I like the question ~ Who is the light in your life? There are so many along the way in this life that certainly qualify. I could list certain members of my family, but I can also list certain Brothers in the Passionist Community. I would also say that the family that donated the lungs of their loved one to give me a new life definitely qualify because they gave love and compassion on the worst day of their lives; to me that is light in their darkness of grief. . .
May God's richest blessings be yours,

What if I lived in Jesus time ~ who would I believe, Jesus or the Pharasees? I, however was not born Roman Catholic. I remember being baptized Lutheran at the age of 5, but then attending whatever Protestant Church was in the neighborhood we lived in. (we moved lots!!!) It was when my father came home one day and told us that we were going to be Catholic that I was excited. Don't know why - I was just happy. I was eleven years old. God gives this gift of faith freely to whom He wills and He wills all of us to believe in Jesus and follow His ways. I am so grateful to God for His gift of faith.
