Father & Doctor Rick…It was good to see you on Sunday (7-17) at Our Lady of Florida…the mass in Spanish was different but being an older Catholic & former altar boy I remember the celebration being offered in Latin…the people on the retreat appeared to be the working class and their devotion and enthusiam for their religion was evident…as I mentioned to you, I was not aware of the magnitude of your work until I researched you and the orphan mission in Haiti…you were raised in Connecticut and it is obvious with your intelligence and talents could have been a successful doctor living the country club life style…why did you choose the priesthood and missionary work as your vocation?…I have 8 years of Vincentian schooling (St. John’s Prep & Niagara U.) and am aware of the missionary zeal that certain men & women have for their life’s work…but why did you choose it?…Mother Theresa ministered in India and Rick Frechette does the same in Haiti…I will do what I can do financially…stay in touch…and thanks for calling Marie…keep her in your prayers…Brian

Dear Father Rick:
You are to be admired for the wonderful works of compassion and mercy done in the Name of the Lord. We met back in the 70′s, my parents and I were at your Ordiation to the Diaconate & Priesthood…we always felt that you would go far in service to God’s people. (We were from Franklin Square, N.Y.) I was ordained in the Episcopal Church in 1986, and we have always had a close connection with the Church in Haiti. Many Masses have been celebrated for the people therei, and I will offer special Mass Intentions for you, and your ministry, at St. Peter’s & St. James Churches in Hazleton, PA. May the Lord continue to bless you and the people you are called to serve.

Thought you could use some good news! The ship’s captain of my friend Laura Sibley went through his bone marrow transplant and is on his way to a full recovery! The white cells are growing! What a relief. Hope things are looking up for you and the people of Haiti. You’re a Saint, sweet man. Stay well, safe and happy.

I pray for those people who have been injured in Haiti. the earthquake in Haiti is one of the word disasters this year. I just hope that they would be able to recover soon.

Fr. Rick, I was watching CNN when I heard about your story through APJ. We were classmates at NYCOM. I am practicing in Iowa, and unfortunately it took this tragedy for my wife and I to become familiar with the challenges (past and present) in Haiti. If there is a way that I could help you for a week, then please let me know. I am an orthopedic surgeon by training. At the very least, we will pray for your strength.

Fr. Rick:
I am a school teacher in El Paso, Tx. I would like to come work with you in haiti during my summer break. I lived in Puerto Rioco for 27 years and was in DR two summers ago. We went to the boarder if Haiti at that time. My father, back in the 80′s was a teacher at the University in Haiti. He did two week-end’s a month at Port-Au-Prince. I am a practicing Catholic, and my heart has been yearning to serve in were service is truly needed. Please tel me how I can become a part of your working group.
